Another day in Paradise

Wow what a busy day…so much for not being at work, woke up to -1c temperatures which for Porirua is unusually cold, but it is winter. The wood van turned up at 7-30am almost an hour earlier than expected but a huge thanks to Old Man Mac for organising such prompt delivery of firewood, so I had a great workout moving all the wood in to the garage under a bright blue sky and freezing temperatures.

Headed into Wellington to have two meetings today..woo hoo.. one with an agency who actually seemed to get what I was looking for and were more concerned about my personality and what interested me rather than just harvesting CV’s just in-case a job description came up with similar words when compared to your CV…so fingers crossed, also good coffee at the Gotham cafe on Chews Lane, then onto my second meeting with an old friend who’s working for an organisation that are looking for a principal consultant…the role sounds interesting, there’s two other possible candidates so I will see how that pans out.

One thing that struck me as I walked around Wellington, how quickly you suddenly feel a stranger when you are walking around during the work day but without any work to go to… you’re not a tourist, you’re not an office worker heading out for coffee / lunch / go to the gym or grabbing that quick 10 minutes shopping… you’re in that neutral zone I know it is just a passing feeling but it does feel strange or maybe it’s me

Anyway back home having taken the train back along with several people coughing and spluttering (surely these people should be at home getting better) it’s time to light the fire so the CoffeeDog can curl up infront of it before the rest of the family gets home.

Tasks for tomorrow, start to chase up on some of these agencies they’ve had a week……
